The originator of Wildcat Sports, Richard Witt has enjoyed decades of consistent success in the sports-prognosticating field. Witt's knowledge is the product of a lengthy career as a sportswriter for multiple major-metro dailies, Daily Racing Form executive, handicapper, and fan.
Witt is currently best-known for his "The Wildcat" newspaper feature and his Sunday run-the-board NFL prognostications, with The Wildcat having appeared in the New York Post since 1997, after originating in Daily Racing Form. Featuring NCAA/NFL spot plays, the Wildcat pieces are filed midday Thursdays, and have sustained a 54%+ ATS level over the long haul despite early filing times, no lineshopping, and rigid grading; a 19-3 ATS 2+-month run was instrumental in generating another wildly-successful 2012 season. The NFL previews have been praised by at least one well-known international operator as "unparalleled, laden with prescient detail". Among other distinctions, 9-1 ATS success in the five latest Super Bowl sides/totals has reflected favorably on the NFL work.
Among other successes, Witt has captured numerous Top Ten finishes in The Sports Monitor (OK City) NFL handicapping percentage competitions, including two first-place finishes. His 2011-12 March Madness (including conference tournaments) work was deemed "unequalled in our history, in any sport" by TSM officials after Witt went 24-4 ATS. This record was the result of refined evaluation techniques, and Witt looks forward to this season's tournaments.
In major football contests, Witt won the fabled Stardust Invitational in 1997, defeating Phil Steele, Benjamin Lee Eckstein, Russ Culver and "Coach" Ron Meyer, highlighting his four-season 40-26-4 ATS record in that competition. Against what was likely the top-quality invitational field ever assembled, Witt survived Andy Iskoe, Steve Turner, Ken White and Jimmy Vaccaro in the winner-take-all $15,000 Don Best/Heritage Invitational in 2000. Witt also owns a Playbook /Wise Guys championship from 2006, going 25-11 and racking up a 16-2 ATS mark on his contest best bets in the process, accumulating the highest winning point total (41) in that contest since 2005.
Veteran Las Vegas radio personality John Kelly has labeled Witt as possessed of "the best combination of football and horse-race handicapping ability I'm aware of." Witt remains most-selective, in the belief that a conservative number of plays maximizes long-term results.
