2024 Playbook Football Questions Interviews
1. What is your primary style of handicapping?
I wouldn’t say I have a set style of handicapping. Each game is different. I like to look at different situations and who has the advantage in that aspect.
2. What is your “golden rule” of handicapping?
Don’t force anything and stay within your means. Proper money management is key.
3. What is the first thing you look for when handicapping a game?
The first thing I look for is if that line makes sense. Is that line something that the average bettor sees as a gift and will jump all over? Keep an eye out for something that makes you go hmmm.
4. Which team statistic do you value the most?
I like to see how teams are performing ATS. For football I always like to take a look at each teams’ lines. Who will win the battle at the line of scrimmage goes a long way in winning.
5. What do you like the most about the expanded college football playoff?
Although it will diminish the regular season a bit, a teams’ season per se is no longer over with a loss or two. It should make for some very intriguing match ups early on in the playoffs. A warm weather team heading up north for a playoff game is must see TV. Imagine a playoff game, in December, in Notre Dame Stadium.
6. Which college football coach commands your attention from a handicapping perspective?
I would say James Franklin at Penn State. I don’t think Franklin can coach a lick but he can recruit and often runs up the scores on the lesser opponents. When it comes time to playing a real team he turns into great fade material.
7. My all-time favorite college football player is:
Chris Zorich nose tackle. Notre Dame.
8. Which college football team is most likely to win this season's playoff?
Barring some unforeseen circumstance I would say Georgia has the inside track. They return a ton of talent and are deep. Plus they have a 5th year senior QB in Carson Beck.
9. Biggest surprise college football team this season?
I think things set up nicely for Oklahoma State. The Cowboys return 10 starters on offense and 10 starters on defense. The only opponent they play ranked inside the preseason Top 25 is Utah and they get the Utes at home.
10. Biggest college football bust this season?
Michigan. Harbaugh going to the NFL will hurt more than Wolverines fans want to admit.
11. Biggest NFL bust this season?
Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys always seem to come up small in the big moments and last year was no different as they got rolled in their own building by the Packers in the playoffs. There seems to be a lot of turmoil in Dallas and this season could be rough.
12. Biggest surprise NFL team this season?
New York Jets. The Jets finally have a solid QB in Aaron Rodgers assuming he stays healthy. They still have one of the better defenses in football and that defense won’t be on the field all game like previous seasons.
13. Which NFL team is most likely to win this season's Super Bowl?
San Francisco 49ers. The Niners have been knocking on the door. With Purdy gaining more confidence under center, this could be the year they knock the door down.
14. My favorite all-time NFL player is -
Joe Montana. Nobody was better under pressure than “Joe Cool”.
15. NFL MVP this season will be -
Joe Burrow. The Bengals really missed him when he went down with injury last year. Burrow has proven to show up big in the big games and has the moxie to lead the Bengals to big things.
16. NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year this season will be -
Jayden Daniels. The Commanders I believe are a team on the rise and Daniels will be a big reason why.
17. Who is your favorite recording artist?
Wow, I like a lot like Prince and The Police but I’m going to have to go with Michael Jackson. Maybe the initials MJ just mean you are the best at everything you do.
18. What is your favorite song?
Bring on the Night by The Police.
19. What is your favorite movie?
Rocky IV. I remember being in the movie theatre and the crowd cheering during the movie.
20.If I had one last meal, it would be:
Filet Mignon with lobster and melted butter.
